(In fact, adverse reactions are reported so frequently, the American Contact Dermatitis Society named it 2014's "Allergen of the Year.")
No wonder Sweden has BANNED the use of oxybenzone entirely.
Oxybenzone has been linked to allergic reactions and skin damage.
But here in the U.S., this awful chemical is still present in countless SPF products — including many of the popular name-brand formulas you see in stores.
Just goes to show, these dangerous chemicals are all over our store shelves.
Daily sunscreen use is essential to maintaining a youthful appearance.
Absolutely not.
Unless you plan on spending your whole life underground, it's nearly impossible to prevent UV damage — and therefore, skin aging — without sunscreen.
What you should stop wearing are the chemicals (and I'll show you how in just a moment).
But first, let's look at the facts...
#1. What the sun's UV rays actually do: Every time UV rays penetrate your skin's surface, they start breaking up the structural proteins it needs to maintain its youthful tone, texture, and firmness — making you look older as a result.
#2. How much exposure it takes: You don't have to spend hours in the sun to experience their damaging effects. (Believe it or not, even the few seconds you spend walking to and from your car can visibly age your skin over time.)
#3. You're not entirely safe indoors either: UV rays can easily penetrate glass, so if there's a window nearby (even if it's closed), your skin is still at risk.
#4. It doesn't even have to be sunny: Studies show that up to 80% of harmful UV rays still reach you when it's overcast!4
#5. You don't know it's happening: Since visible aging occurs under the surface, you won't see any immediate signs, like redness and blistering — UV ray damage can happen in a matter of minutes, without you even knowing.
And it accumulates little by little… until one day, you see it in the mirror, in the form of lines, creases, droopy skin, age spots, and a sallow or ruddy complexion.
So if you don't want your appearance to age before its time, there's no way around it... You have to protect your skin from UV rays.
